Today, even with the soreness of the muscles due to yesterday’s yoga, I went to the gym with CCLuv. 24 Hour Fitness is having a special right now where members (me) can bring friends (CCLuv) until the first of the year for free.
It felt so good to get out there and workout on the [...]

You can read about my foray into the world of yoga on my Bella Blog, but after a less than perfect start, I woke up this morning happy that I had tried it. Muscles all over my body felt so sore, in a great way that lets me know I moved my body in [...]
Feeling Good

After last night, I was determined to get up this morning and start my New Me project of working out and eating right.
I woke up late — 8:30 — but since there’s not schedule for me to follow right now, that wasn’t a big deal. I got up, washed my face, brushed my teeth, [...]

Enough of this feeling pathetically sorry for myself stuff. Now it’s time to stop wallowing and start doing something about it.
I followed Phase 1 really strictly and had amazing results — lost 8.5 lbs in two weeks! Then came Phase 2 and things sort of went downhill. I did well enough the [...]

That’s how I feel right now.
I should be at my mom’s uncle’s house, celebrating with our huge family. Over 60 people gather each year to share Christmas. Why aren’t I there, you ask? Am I sick? Well, not physically. But I am sick and tired of being so fat that [...]

I started Phase 2 on Saturday and have been enjoying having a morning bowl of oatmeal, especially since the weather has been cold and dreary lately. Other than protein, oatmeal is one of the best breakfasts for staying full ’till it’s time for the morning snack.
I went to the grocery store tonight and picked [...]
Weigh-in Day

Today marked the 2nd weigh in, and I have to admit, I’m disappointed. I stuck to the program completely. Even when tempted with chocolate, spinach dip, etc., I didn’t give in.
Why did I only lose .8? Maybe because I had such a huge week last week, and my body is still recovering [...]
Week 2 seems so much easier!

I don’t know if it’s the fact that I have gotten into a routine of planning, cooking, and eating healthy low-glycemic meals, or what, but so far this week is even easier than last week. Everything is flowing nicely, and I feel like I could almost stay on Phase 1 indefinitely.
And then I realize that [...]
A celebration for Phase 2

Since the three of us will begin Phase 2 on Saturday, I thought it might be nice to go down to one of our favorite wine spots and have a celebratory glass (or two) of a really nice wine. It would be a great way to reward ourselves for all of our hard work [...]
Gearing up for Phase 1, Week 2

I had a great week last week, both in results and in food choices.
This week my goal is to add some flavor to my dinners. Last week it was all about grilling the meat for dinner with very few spices — a bit of pepper, garlic powder, etc. This week I want to [...]
