After this week’s disappointing weigh-in, I decided to get my butt in gear and really start exercising. I had a lot of success with the 10,000 Steps program that I started over the summer, and I wanted to continue it.
Remember that pedometer I mentioned that was collecting dust in my drawer? Well, I [...]

Week 3 Weigh-in

This week was disappointing on a number of levels. I only lost 1.4 pounds. I also got my period for the 2nd time this month. I started it on April 8 and then again yesterday on April 29. This is so unlike me. Only 21 days apart? I’m [...]

As I was reading my usual blogs today and procrastinating on grading (you know, the usual), I came across a new blog that I quickly added to my blogroll on my main blog. It’s called Jennsylvania. It’s written by author Jen Lancaster, and it’s hilarious. I love her sarcastic wit, and [...]

I have a confession to make. I’m addicted. Yes, I can’t seem to get enough. In my quest for all things Biggest Loser, I came across a weekly talk radio show hosted by Jillian Michaels.
It’s on a Southern California talk radio station – KFI. If you go to their webpage, you [...]

This week I had another NSV! I had two different people, on separate occasions tell me that they could see that my face is getting thinner.
This was a big boost to me, because earlier in the week I was thinking that I couldn’t really see this 17 pound weight loss. Yes, some of [...]
Deciding not to break the fast, and then to break it

Recently I had to figure out if I was going to break the fast for an upcoming graduation celebration. Our entire grad school cohort is going to go out on May 5 (Cinco de Mayo, no less!) for a party after class. It’s not something I can decide not to go to, since they’ve let [...]
Fasting isn’t as difficult as it seems

I’m finding staying on the fast is very easy for me. Because of the money I’ve spent on the program, I know that I don’t want to undermine my progress by breaking the fast. Plus, I think that now my body is adjusting to the lower calories, and I’m not feeling hungry as [...]

Our first week on the fast, WMP of SF gave us a binder that had some recipes in it. Ways to combine the meal replacement with spices or other ingredients in order to add some variety to our meals.
I hadn’t given those recipes any thought until tonight when a few of the women in [...]

Tonight was my 2nd weigh-in on the fast, and I lost another 7.6 pounds! This makes a total of 17 pounds in two weeks!! To say that I am excited is such an understatement.
Of course I know that at some point, maybe even next week, my weight loss is going to normalize and I [...]
First accident on the fast

This morning I was making my breakfast shake. I had put in the water and the shake mix, and was dropping in the ice cubes.
Little did I know that the blender was already plugged into the outlet. An ice cube dropped out of my hands, and…yes, you guessed it – chocolate shake everywhere!!!
And I mean [...]
