Sorry this is a day late; I didn’t get home last night until 11pm because I met Favorite Cousin for coffee at Starbucks after my weigh-in and she and I had a lot to catch up on.
My results for this week weren’t great — I only lost .3, but hey, at least I lost, especially after breaking the fast for my graduation party and consuming quite a bit of wine at the party. I worked out a bit last week, but probably need to continue to try to up that even more.
One thing I’m really happy about from last night was that my blood pressure reading was 116/74, which is totally in the normal range! Each week it goes down, which is awesome. I can’t believe that losing 27.4 pounds has had that much of an effect on my blood pressure readings! It just goes to show that little changes can add up to big differences in my health.
The other thing that we did last night in the meeting was to write a letter to ourselves, to be mailed in 9 months. Lots of the people in my class had a hard time with this, because our leader wasn’t specific about what the letter should contain. She said she didn’t want to influence us in any way. I started off my letter, “Dear Skinny Bella…” and then wrote about all that I hoped I was doing by February 2009. I talked about changes in my diet and exercises, in my relationship status (hopefully I’d have started dating by then), and in my level of happiness because of the physical and mental changes that had taken place within me. It was actually a really positive exercise, and I recommend it to any of you. Write a letter to yourself and give it to someone to mail in 6 or 8 months. It will be really interesting to see what you are thinking, hoping, and expecting of yourself in the time that passes.
This week I’m hoping for much better eating (no parties to break the fast on) and increased working out time.

That’s a fantastic BP!! ::is jealous:: It’s really true what they say about 20 lbs making a big difference! Good for you for going on the attack!
Blood pressure almost always responds well (and quickly) to positive, healthy lifestyle changes that it’s a wonder so many continue to take drugs to ‘fix’ it instead of making those changes. It’s a nice tangible NSV! Considering it was such a big week for you I think .3 is pretty damned good! I would bet you’ve actually lost more but are simply retaining some water from the increase in carbs (alcohol, etc.). The main thing is that you planned to ‘fall off the horse’ and are getting back on. Your attitude sounds great and I’m just thrilled for you!!!
congratulations on the loss and the BP!!!!
yay you!
