As I write this, I really do feel so proud and also so grateful that I am part of this wonderful weight loss blogging community. A million thanks to everyone who took the time and made the effort to comment on my call for help yesterday. I got some really great meal ideas and a few tips on how to combat my nighttime munchies.
So these last few days have been tough – I’ve got a nasty cold, I had a terrible reaction (welts and red bumps) to Nair on my upper lip, and I’ve been feeling a bit out of control about the nighttime eating. I have spent Monday afternoon/evening and will spend most of the day today (Tuesday) taking back control of myself and my eating.
For the past two nights I haven’t eaten in the living room in front of the t.v. This is something I want to sustain from here on out. I’m going to use several of your ideas, including the idea of drinking decaf tea (I have several varieties waiting in my cupboard) and closing the kitchen after I clean up the dinner dishes.
Yesterday I watched this video, and I think it captures what I’ve been feeling perfectly. I think you’ll get something out of it, too, so it should be worth your time to watch it:
My takeaways:
- Saying one thing and doing another thing – so true, especially at night
- I’ve got the gym thing down, which makes me so happy. Check one thing off the list.
- I want to walk the walk, not just talk the talk.
- I would love an accountability partner – Scale Warfare, are you up for it? Anyone else?
(I WILL NOT be shaving my head to prove myself, however
What I will do is prove to myself that I can and will do this. To “just do it.” To follow through on all of my plans and make it happen. To get ‘er done!

Maybe email our food journals or points consumed each day (or both?)
Thank you! I think daily emails with food journals and points sounds awesome!
A weight loss journey is an extraordinarily tough road with an abundantly extraordinary destination: thin and healthy. Plus we get all of that self-discovery and personal growth along the way. (I will reread this comment to myself when I am tempted to throw in the scale–which is pretty much daily.

Thank you for this very thoughtful (and true!) comment.
I think you need to gracefully accept that you are doing a lot of things well! I am sure your diet has improved and you are eating less than you were a few months ago. But keeping up your workouts are a great thing! Most of us are not 100% perfect all the time, but if we do most of it right most of the time, the results will happen.
Keep up the good work!
A great reminder, thank you!!
Let me just say:
YOU CAN AND WILL DO THIS.
That is all.
Thank you, sweets. I can and I WILL!!
More evidence that this is about the journey, not the destination.
You’ll get to goal… and I’m glad you’re not shaving your head!
I nominated you for an Honest Scrap award since you are one of the blogs I read regularly and get a lot out of. I hope you’ll accept
