What a Monday! The first day back after a super short week is never easy, and today was no exception. I’m so glad that the day is done and that I’m home. Ahhhh.
To check in on my workout plan, I got home too late to take the dog for a walk and make it to Zumba at the gym, so I’m going to do the next best thing: Wii Zumba! I don’t build up quite the sweat of a full-fledged Zumba class, but it is definitely a good substitute in a pinch. I’m going to take some screen shots tonight, and then I’ll do a full review later this week, for those who are interested. So come back for that.
Now on to the real business of today’s post…

Friend Makin’ Mondays: Holiday Shopping
- Do you like to shop? I do. More and more, though, I find myself shopping online so that I don’t have to deal with the traffic, parking, and crowds. If it’s something that I know I want to look at in person, though, I will definitely hit the shops. Plus, there’s just nothing like going shopping with a friend, is there?
- Have you started shopping for Christmas gifts yet? Yes, but just barely. I bought a few stocking stuffers for friends, my hairstylist’s gift, and a couple of other gifts for my nieces. I still have my main shopping to do, but I’m waiting until I get paid on Wednesday.
- Did you shop on Black Friday? If so, what did you buy? Absolutely not!! I refuse to go out in that madness. I did go online and take advantage of Lane Byrant’s 50% off sale online. It made their exorbitant prices a bit more manageable. They didn’t have too much that I liked, but I did get some essentials. I also headed to Kohl’s on Saturday to get a few home decor items that I wanted for Christmas decorating.
- List a few of your favorite stores. In no particular order: Sephora, Old Navy, Kohl’s, Target, Macy’s, a few local businesses, and OneStopPlus.com.
- What is the last thing you purchased for yourself (food and drinks excluded?) Slippers from Kohl’s.
- Do you prefer to shop in-store or online? It really depends on what I’m buying. Lately I’ve been doing a lot more shopping online, but as I said, if I need to see it in person, I go to the store. I also really like to support small businesses when I can. Once I lose more weight and go down a few sizes, I’m sure that I’ll be going to the stores more often to see what size I really am (although this doesn’t apply to holiday shopping).
- If you could purchase one thing that you don’t need at all for yourself today, what would it be? A Kindle Fire. I have a perfectly good, older model Kindle that I love, but the new color screen Kindle looks awesome. And if money was no object, I guess I’d get an iPad, but the price point on that is still just so out of the realm that I’ll wait until it goes down.
- Does your significant other shop with you? Do they love it/hate it? No significant other…yet!
- Do you shop at thrift stores? No.
- When you’re holiday shopping, do you make lists? Yes! I put down the person’s name, my budget for them, what I’m going to buy, and where I buy it. Then I make a second list by store, so that if I do have to go out, I know exactly what I need at each one. I still impulse buy, but this helps me cut it down.

Wii Zumba?? You must fill us in on this! I’m intrigued.
I didn’t think about shopping with a friend — that definitely makes it more fun!
I usually hate shopping… unless it’s online, or at Sephora. Gosh I love that place
I just got Wii Zumba! I couldn’t make it all the way through the first workout, so I’ve made that my goal. Where do you do your Wii Zumba? I tried it in the living room (carpeted) in socks and I’m worried about wearing down the carpet or hurting my feet without shoes! I could probably do it on the cement floor in the basement, but that worries me a little too. Any secrets?
My house has hardwood throughout, so I just do it in the living room. But carpet shouldn’t be that big a deal. Try it and see.
