This week I’m going to need all the strength that Super Bellina can muster.
Let me get right into the real reason I’m writing this post. If you take a little gander at MyFitnessPal widget, you’ll see that the weight loss has gone down dramatically. Why? Well, I fell into old patterns this weekend, the specifics of which I’m not going to get into. But, I can say with absolute certainty that I am indeed a food addict; my behavior over the past few days leaves me without a doubt. The plotting about which food I was going to “score,” the act of covertly overeating, the “hangover” feeling the next morning after eating too much the day before, only to continue it again, the hiding what I’m doing from everyone, and then the lying about what I’ve eaten on my food log.
The Fat Girl was here in all her glory, and it’s time to kick her the f@#% out of this house, out of my head, and out of my life. I know why it happened, because I was am planning on kicking up my weight loss efforts into a higher gear (more on this in a future post), and I chose to look at this weekend as a last meal of sorts. (Oh, how many last meals can one person have?!) I’m not going to wallow in the “I wish I wouldn’t have,” but just get on with the plan for how to recover.
- Writing this post and being accountable to those who take the time to read it (done).
- Going back into MyFitnessPal and coming clean about what I actually consumed since Friday (done).
- Release the guilt over the Fat Girl’s visit and start fresh today (doing it).
- Get in a good workout.
- Follow the Fage Fast.
Several weeks ago I watched this video made by one of the people I follow on YouTube, AmySDMOM. She’s lost 134 with VSG and has kept it off for over two years and counting. She’s participated in tons of endurance running events, and is basically an all-around rock star. In the video she describes a two-day, get-back-on-track “fast” that she does. It’s not what I would consider a normal fast, because she’s eating, but I guess it fit that category because it does help to cleanse the body and reset the mind.
So this morning I began my day with 6oz of Fage 0% Greek Yogurt (measured on the food scale), 8 drops of Sweet Leaf Lemon Drop liquid Stevia, and about a cup of blueberries. It was delicious and I know the 19g of protein will really hold me. For lunch I’m going to have 6oz of Fage and 1 cup of grape tomatoes, seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Later I’m going to have an apple, which I’ll heat in the micro with some cinnamon and English Toffee Stevia drops, on top of 6oz of Fage. And then later I’ll have 1 banana with chocolate Stevia drops on the Fage. In between, I’m going to drink at least 10 glasses of water. The totals for the day are great (710 calories, 75g protein, 110g carbs, 0g fat) and will help me lose some of the water weight I gained with Fat Girl’s visit.
I know this Fage Fast isn’t the way to eat every single day, but it does seem like a really great way to hit the restart button to get myself back on track. I can already see Fat Girl running far, far away. I’m going to do the Fage Fast for two days, so I’ll check back in on Wednesday morning to see what the results are.

Aw, sorry to hear about your struggle over the weekend. I ate and drank like crazy too and my “recovery plan” is to bulk up my workouts this week (hopefully with clean eating too). I actually told myself before a shot on Friday night that if I drank it, I was adding a mile to each run this week. And I did that several times. So I am going to follow through and will be tacking on 4 dreadful solo miles on 3 days this week. It’s warped to see it as some kind of exercise punishment, but I think my body needs it — I want to get rid of those extra calories and I want to remind myself how long it takes to burn off something I drank in a matter of seconds… Your “fast” plan sounds interesting — I love fage!
So far so good with the Fage. I just had a more savory version for lunch (fage, grape tomatoes, garlic powder, salt, pepper, a dash of thyme), and it was soooooo good. I’m glad I found something I can add to it that’s not sweet, because too much sweet stuff gets old quickly, for me.
The savory version sounded VERY unusual — glad it was good!
Don’t worry girl! It happens. This fage fast sounds interesting!! I kinda want to try it
Can’t wait to hear how it goes!!
So far, so good. It’s really not that difficult, but I know that adding the fruit/veggies is what’s keeping me sane. Otherwise, I know I’d miss chewing.
Hang in there Bella, it sounds like you know where you want to go and are back on the way there! Also, you have me craving fage!
I am so proud of your holding yourself accountable like this. That is quite admirable!
Thanks for talking to me today, it really helped (helps) me so much.
I wouldn’t be able to do the Fage Fast…not enough protein, but I hope you’re successful! You can do whatever you put your mind to doing.
Tomorrow is a new day.
Oh Bella, I understand! Even now, 100+ pounds later, every now and then my personal Fat Girl shows up, and I’ll find myself gorging on nasty, sweet, sugary crap. And hiding it from my husband, and feeling like throwing up afterwards.
Taking two days to fast (or cleanse, or whatever) to reset can be just the ticket. I just completed almost 3 weeks of Paleo – no sugar, dairy, grains, etc. It helped tremendously.
You can do this – I know you can!
Thank you so much, Kris. Today went really well, excellent actually, and I’m feeling great. I’ve let go of the weekend Fat Girl and I’m embracing the Healthy Me that I unleashed today.
I’ve had a very similar week
I’ve recommitted myself and I seem to be getting my motivation back. It usually only takes a couple days of good eating and then I don’t crave the bad stuff!
It sounds like you have a great plan in place and you will be back on track before you know it!!!
I just watched the video and made a list of what to pick up when I get home from this trip. This coming Saturday and Sunday will be a Fage feast for me!
Yay!
