Goal Style. Each week I use Polyvore to put together looks that I hope to wear when I get to goal. They serve as inspiration and motivation, and they help me develop my own sense of style along the way. I enjoying working with thematic groupings, so if you have ideas of style themes for future fashion Friday posts, please put them in the comments.
Today’s Goal Style is all about two things – working out and Lululemon. For me, being able to fit in Lululemon will be a major milestone. Paying for it will be something else, but I digress. Since this week my focus has been on getting workouts in, thought a Friday fashion about workout clothes was appropriate.
One thing I hadn’t realized before was just how boring the color choices at Lululemon are. At least online. Everything was muted – gray, black, pastels. Bold, vibrant colors were few and far between. And hey, I know black is slimming, but I’m the kind of girl who needs some color in her life, too. Which is why I was so happy when I found that one, bolder pink jacket.
I put a few different looks together in this set. One with more fitted pants, which scare me, but this is Goal Style, and by the time I’m at goal, maybe those tighter pants won’t be as scary. And then the other set are a pair of crops that I know would fit me well. I included other views of the pants to give an idea of the fit. Also, I only chose crops because with my short legs, I have to, the others would just be too long.
Where is (or will be) your favorite store to splurge on workout wear?

Tight, fitted pants do NOT look good on me, but I wear them anyway for working out. It just feels more comfortable and safer — I once got my foot caught in loose fabric on pants while walking downstairs w/ big clunky running shoes and the last thing I need while moving is something else to trip over. I also only wear pants or capris when it’s pretty cold, so I like something close to my body to keep me warmer.
I usually get workout clothes at a local store here (and my most common brand choice is Brooks, but I have a pretty big variety). I take the store’s running classes, so I get a 10% discount on clothing. Most stuff is a bit cheaper than Lulu, but not much, unless you add the discount. Jackets usually range 60-120, bras 40-60, pants 50-100.
I love Lululemon stuff, but the price means I don’t have a lot in my closet. They do have a much wider selection of colours in their store though – I love bright clothes too.
The funny thing is, I dress in black A LOT! But I do like to have a “pop” of color in the outfit somewhere. Too dull otherwise.
I love the Zella line at Nordstrom, I’m pretty sure they have a plus line too. It is pricey but not as pricey as Lululemon. You should check it out.
I love that pink color! I wear a lot of black too.
Fitting into cute/stylish workout clothes is definitely a goal/motivator for me!! My favorite go-to long workout trousers are by a brand called – believe it or not – Bella! They’re so comfortable!! Recently I’ve gone the Nike route though and am loving their dry fit workout capris — and GAP Gflex items are super-comfortable too!!
Since I’ve started Zumba I just want to go and order all their little outfits … but the outfits are just that, little!! Definitely need to hit a few more classes and drop more pounds before fitting into them!!
I love some of the Zumba outfits, too! And I’ve been seriously considering buying some Zumba shoes – I’m thinking as a weight loss reward.
I’ll look into the Bella & Gap clothes. Thx for the tip!
