In my yearly review of 2012 Goals, I said that I wasn’t going to write down a bunch of goals this year. This was really out of character for me, because I’m such a planner. I did so poorly on last year’s goals, and this year I really want to set myself up for success. I don’t want to write a bunch of grandiose plans only to miss the mark with them.
But on the other hand…
and…
And then I came across the 13 in 13 from reading Amber’s blog. Rebecca over at Weight Wars has put together a great program for goal setting, but more than that, I’m attracted to it because it has built in monthly accountability. Participants in 13 in 13 set 13 goals for 2013, but more than that, they will be checking in on a monthly basis, prompted by Rebecca’s emails. I like that I’ll be held responsible for checking in on my goals, which was the piece of the puzzle that I was missing last year.
So, I guess that decides it. I’m going to do 13 in 13. Now I just need to come up with my goals, besides the most obvious – weight loss.

Happy New Year Bella! I wish you success, health and happiness in the new year. 13 in 13 sounds like a great way to set your goals and stay on track with them.
Having that extra accountability is a great thing! And you don’t have to make number specific goals, just ones that are attainable. Personally, I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
I was surprised when you said you weren’t doing them — even when they aren’t acheieved, stretch goals or resolutions I think help you keep focus and remind yourself of your destination (but of course not everyone feels that way). There’s another blog (I think I found it through you) doing the 13 in 13, so that will be doubly fun reading for me! I’m still working on mine (right now I have 11, and that just seems like a weird number, so I either want to add 1-2 or drop 1, still pondering).
Yay! I’m so glad you’re doing the 13 in 13! We’ll help each other kick butt this year!!
Long time no comment
Though I have been reading (you’re right, I’ve been super busy, but I always make the time to read your blog, even if it’s right before I get out of bed on my iPad!)
I love the 13 in 13 idea, I’m actually doing a post coming up about a weekly goal thing. I think the idea of being able to break goals for the year down to things that you can focus on one at a time, or maybe just spread out a bit is a great idea. Some tough goals, some easier ones to help you realize you CAN achieve anything!
Looking forward to seeing what your 13 are!
That’s awesome
I’ve signed up too!
