It’s Winter! Which means that the weather turns chilly and a new year is just beginning. This year the period from January through March is going to be a Winter Wonderland for me – a time to focus on my weight loss and to finally, once-and-for-all achieve my pre-surgery weight loss requirement. Sunday weigh-ins will keep me accountable through the weekend, and will give me a positive goal to begin each new week. This is the time of year resolutions are made and then quickly forgotten, but not with me. I’m going to use this season to refresh my outlook, because I’m embarking on more than just a diet plan, I’m going to establish a lifestyle. My Sunday progress updates will be called Winter Wonderland Weigh-Ins.
Week 3 was amazing! I’m super motivated, on track, and feeling proud of what I accomplished. If every week is like this one, I’ll be at my goal in no time.
Excellent! So, what did the scale show?!
This morning I weighed in at 298.6, which is down 3.4 lbs from last week. Which means I have 18 pounds to go to reach the pre-surgery requirement. More than 3-4 lbs is exactly what I hope to be losing each week. Most weight loss plans say 1-2 lbs is the average, and considering my BMI, 3-4 lbs is a good average for me. It’s all relative.
My own version of JC is going fabulously well, and my weekly grocery bill was $66, rather than $165. Much better! I’ve been including plenty of fruits and veggies, protein at every meal, and a nice assortment of snacks that are all keeping me really satisfied. Working from home is a bit more challenging, with the easy access to all the food, but I’ve been curbing cravings by drinking coffee, tea, and water.
The real difference this past week was that I got workouts in almost every day! Walking Sofi, elliptical, recumbent bike, aqua aerobics, & Zumba – I love all the variety because it keeps my body guessing and I don’t get bored. I worked out for 282 minutes and burned 3107 calories. I had two “buddy dates,” and made plans for more. One of my co-workers/friends goes to my gym, and her friend finally got her to commit to going on a set schedule, so I will be meeting them on Mon/Wed whenever I can. Plus, Tinkerbell and Ani both have bikes, so I’m going to set up some biking/walking plans with them. I have my workouts planned out in my iCal for the rest of the month, and I plan to stick to it as much as possible.
Until next Sunday, my friends. I hope the scale treats you well, and that you have a wonderful week!

Nice job Bella! I also find that having my workouts planned keeps me on schedule. I tend to have a workout schedule when I’m training for a race, but I’ve been a little unorganized lately. So creating a workout schedule is on my “to do” list for this week. I am wishing you another great week.
Thanks so much, Aimee.
I’m making a big effort to eat clean until Mardi Gras (half to fit in a dress, half because it’s my plan for the year and I like mini-goals). Sounds like if things keep going for you this way, you’re going to be so close right then! Woo-hoo Bella! Laser-focus for a few more weeks. You’ve got this.
That’s exactly it, Carina! I’m going to remember that each morning & repeat it all day: laser focus. Thanks!
Congratulations on a great week and weigh in!
18 lbs!! You’re so close! Keep up the great work
