Goal Style. Each week I use Polyvore to put together looks that I hope to wear when I get to goal. They serve as inspiration and motivation, and they help me develop my own sense of style along the way. I enjoying working with thematic groupings, so if you have ideas of style themes for future fashion posts, please put them in the comments.

This week’s Goal Style was inspired by the the nautical trend that’s so hot right now. It seems a perfect paring with the 4th of July. To me nautical is preppy mixed with the maritime, oceanic aesthetic.

The clothes themselves are simple and clean, just the way I like them. The skirt is a light, breezy cotton that would be as perfect at a backyard BBQ as on a yacht. The top was just a way to keep the look from getting a bit too costumey, although if it borders on that, I don’t mind, since we all get a little matchy-matchy with the 4th, don’t we? I’ve put similar TOMS espadrille wedges in another Goal Style outfit, so I think it’s high time I purchased some, right? The necklace is one I’d love to own myself because of the detail on the anchor. I also adore the Tarina Tarantino bracelet – so perfect for this look! Ray Bans are so classic, and bring me back to my high school days. Who doesn’t love a MAC red lipstick, and it was all the better that it incorporated the sailor theme. Last but certainly not least are those nails – I love them. I searched long and hard on Pinterest to find 4th of July nails that I thought were festive and not tacky. I’d never be able to do them myself, but I love the way they look. Nail art is really huge right now, which is why I’m grateful that the Biotin I’ve been taking is helping my nails grow. In fact, just last I made an appointment for a shellac manicure, because there’s finally something for a manicurist to work with. All in all, I’d absolutely wear this outfit on the 4th of July. It’s fresh, flirty, and very, very fun.

Do you dress in red, white, and blue on the 4th of July? Do you have your outfit set?

I haven’t done a Goal Style post in weeks, so I thought it was high time I did one.  Since I’m reporting my weigh-in progress on Fridays, I’m moving these fashion posts to any other day of the week, because fashion happens everyday, right?

This week’s Goal Style was inspired by a pin I found on Pinterest of a beautiful sunset on the beach, with a beach cruiser parked near at a dock. The nice thing about this pin is that it’s easy enough for me to re-create it, since I have beaches just 45 minutes away in either direction.  I love riding my beach cruiser, and this picture helps remind me of the laid back feeling I get when I’m on it.  It’s a great reminder that  I need to hop on the bike a bit more often.

The clothes themselves are easy, breezy.  I was just telling my sister yesterday that I wanted to get a straw hat to have when my summer curls aren’t at their best. In fact, I just bought a hat straw hat online this morning.  Mine is a little less floppy (more wearable everyday) than this one is, but I do like the way the whole out fit came together.  It’s definitely something I could see myself wearing.  In fact, I own those Reef flip flops and LOVE them – very supportive and comfy, even when walking all around.  The shorts are Not Your Daughter’s Jeans, a brand I’ve put on a previous Goal Style because I hear they’re made for curvy women.  The Tory Burch top is a fantasy, but it definitely looks nice with the outfit, right?  And while I don’t any bracelets like those, I would love some.  I really like the trend of stacking lots of bracelets because it reminds me of Madonna in the 80s. Maybe I’ll get some for myself for my birthday.

Where’s the last place you’ve taken a bike ride?

This week’s Goal Style was inspired by a pin I found on Pinterest of a beautiful balcony in Greece.  It immediately had me fantasizing about being on a romantic vacation with my future sweetie.  We’d wake up early to catch the sunrise on the beach, and then come back to our room to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. If that doesn’t make a girl smile, I don’t know what would!

I would never usually choose a maxi dress, because I’m much too short to pull it off, but this one from Anthropologie came in petite, so when I’m at my goal, it just might work.  Everything else just fell into place after that.  And as always when it comes to the fashions I find on Polyvore, money is no object.  I mean, this IS about fantasy, right? And this girl will never stop dreaming.

In honor of Cinco de Mayo this Saturday, I thought I’d come up with a fun outfit, suitable for a day of bar hopping and enjoying life. I adore the hand-painted Tom’s I found on Etsy! The colorful bangles pick up the flavor of frivolity and merriment. I’ve heard amazing things about Not Your Daughter’s Jeans (great for those of us with curves!), so I thought the red cropped version would add some spice to the outfit. And how can I create a set dedicated to a Mexican celebration without including my favorite Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo?! Ole!

This week has been busy, and what’s better than ending a busy week with a fun night out?  I haven’t been dressed up at a party in ages, so this was a really fun set to play around with.  I adore the shoes, and that clutch with the brass knuckles is to die for.  LOVE!  The dress is sexy yet demure, and I added those bracelets to toughen it up a bit.

This weekend ushered in a heatwave that will bring temps in the 90s, so this week’s Goal Style was all about cool comfort.  You may recognize those shoes from a previous Goal Style, and because I love their quirky shape so much, I just had to use them again.  I absolutely love the multi-bracelet trend that I’ve been seeing lately, and I love that the ones that I found on Polyvore have an Indian feel.

I can’t tell you how much fun I’ve been having creating these goal outfits each week.  Especially when money is no object.  Putting together these sets on Polyvore really helps me figure out what my own style will be once I can wear almost anything. So now I’d like to hear some suggestions from you – what should the themes be of upcoming Goal Styles?  Leave your suggestion in the comments…

I’ve had a really relaxing spring break this week, and I used it once again as the inspiration for the title of today’s set. This week’s Goal Style features a really fun, spring dress that I would love to wear on a Saturday filled with lunch, shopping, and being seen. Since the dress has so much color, I kept the accessories neutral, opting for the straw bag and espadrille wedges.

This look was totally and completely inspired by the funky shoes in this set. I love them! I paired the white lace dress, because with all of that going on in the shoes, there really wasn’t much leeway to do anything else. Plus there was something lacy suggested in the edges of the shoes. I thought a denim jacket would toughen up the look a bit, and I really like the way it toned down the rest of the girly-girl outfit. I found the art on Pinterest a couple of weeks ago, and I loved it because of the strong eyebrows; the colors helped bring it all together. (The piece is called Pollynesia II by Sandhi Schimmel Gold. If you like it, check out her site, she’s got fabulous stuff). The makeup is definitely something I’d wear, false lashes and all (although I’ve never really rocked falsies before, but hey, this is my fashion fantasy).

Happy Friday!!

Erin Go Bragh!  Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!

St. Patrick’s Day is just a fun holiday.  The parades, the toasts, the good cheer, the green.  I know St. Patrick’s Day is huge on the East Coast (Boston, NYC), but I found out on the news last night that San Francisco has the biggest Irish cultural celebration on the West Coast. What better time to go out and drink a few shots of Jameson with friends?  I don’t normally go out to the bars and celebrate as so many others do, but maybe next year?  This week’s Goal Style was inspired by that possibility. “Sláinte!”

I love the sweater’s deep green and cable-knit pattern.  The jeans seem like they’d be great for a curvy figure like mine.  I love the shoes because they’re just so unexpected, and I had to throw a bit of orange into the mix with that awesome Kate Spade bag.  So, I hope you like this cute little bar-hopping outfit as much as I do.

May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks. May your heart be as light as a song. May each day bring you bright, happy hours. That stay with you all the year long.” ~Irish Saying

Today’s Goal Style is all about two things – working out and Lululemon.  For me, being able to fit in Lululemon will be a major milestone.  Paying for it will be something else, but I digress.  Since this week my  focus has been on getting workouts in,  thought a Friday fashion about workout clothes was appropriate.

One thing I hadn’t realized before was just how boring the color choices at Lululemon are.  At least online.  Everything was muted – gray, black, pastels.  Bold, vibrant colors were few and far between.  And hey, I know black is slimming, but I’m the kind of girl who needs some color in her life, too. Which is why I was so happy when I found that one, bolder pink jacket.

I put a few different looks together in this set.  One with more fitted pants, which scare me, but this is Goal Style, and by the time I’m at goal, maybe those tighter pants won’t be as scary.  And then the other set are a pair of crops that I know would fit me well.  I included other views of the pants to give an idea of the fit.  Also, I only chose crops because with my short legs, I have to, the others would just be too long.

Where is (or will be) your favorite store to splurge on workout wear?
