‘Tis the season! Which means that the world turns sparkly, the weather turns chilly, and 2012 is almost over. I’m looking at this time of year as a Countdown to Christmas – focusing on my weight loss and achieving my pre-surgery weight loss requirement. Achieving that will be the best gift of all!!! Sunday weigh-ins will keep me accountable through the weekend. This is the time of year when food and celebrations are plentiful and the last thing on most people’s minds is weight loss. I’m going to show that weight loss can happen during the holiday season. My Sunday progress updates will be called Countdown to Christmas Weigh-Ins.
Week 13 was a lucky week, all things considered. I made the decision late on Sunday afternoon to stop going to Jenny Craig, save money, and follow my own version of their program using Lean Cuisines, and snacks like Pop Chips and 100-calorie packs. I used my old menus as a guide, and replicated the way they combine foods. I kept my calories between 1550-1600, and felt satisfied. And then the terrible events in Connecticut hit on Friday, which devastated me along with the rest of the nation, and I used food to comfort my emotions. I ordered a sausage and olive pizza and had 4 slices, along with a few 100-calorie packs, and a bunch of veggie chips. But, I logged in every bite and threw the rest of the pizza away so that it didn’t turn into a weekend binge fest.
This morning I weighed in at 297.0, which is a loss of 1.0 lbs this week. Which means I have 16 pounds to go to reach the pre-surgery requirement. I’m really happy with this loss, considering how Friday night ended up.
Despite my overeating on Friday, I had a good week. Using the Lean Cuisines, soups, and other snacks in place of the Jenny Craig food turned out really well. I know I could’ve lost more had it not been for the pizza. But that’s in the past. The thing that made the difference was that I logged in every single bite into MFP and made sure to throw out the remaining pizza. It helped me move on and I began Saturday as a brand new day. I burned a ton of calories cleaning the house from top to bottom all day long, and was thankful to be back on track.
This week I also got in activity three days – a bike ride around the neighborhood, a gym session on the recumbent bike, plus yesterday’s cleaning session. Earlier in the week I was asked for ideas about exercises I should try, besides biking and swimming, and I got some great options. Although, like Carina pointed out, at this stage of my journey, I need to just keep my head down and do the work. If that means being a bit bored as I sit on the bike at the gym, so be it. I’ll make sure that my playlists keep me motivated.
I’m really motivated to get my workouts in this week, and I know that when I workout, I stick to the diet better, because I don’t want to undo the great progress I’ve made. I know that when I check in next week with my weigh-in, I’ll see an even better result on the scale.
Until next Sunday, my friends. I hope the scale treats you well, and that you have a wonderful week!
Hope you have a great workout week & keep moving towards reaching your weight loss goal 🙂
I know this is a little late in one sense but I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May all you dreams and aspirations come to fruition.
Blessings
Awww, thank you! The same to you.
