Throughout the month of December, I’ll be participating in #reverb12: celebrating the successes of 2012, honoring the challenges of 2012, and planting the seeds for a rich and rewarding 2013. December is the perfect time to reflect on the year that has passed and start to manifest dreams for the new year.
Day 18 – What color best represents the year you had in 2012? And why? What color would you like to invite into your life in 2013? Be as literal or metaphorical, clever or crazy, or just plain off-the-wall with this as you choose!
I’d have to say that 2012 brought the color blue into my life. Well, to be accurate, blue has been a part of my life since elementary school. The school colors of every school I’ve attended – elementary on through college, and even the high school I teach at – are blue and gold. Amazing, right?
It’s funny that I’ve never been particularly drawn to blue. Sure, I love the ocean, and I do find blue as soothing as the next person, but in terms of a favorite color, I’ve never said blue. Regardless of that fact, blue seems to be everywhere in my life.
At work, Fridays are pride days, which means the faculty is encouraged to wear blue. I’ve added tons of blue clothing to my wardrobe; lucky for me cobalt blue seemed to be THE color this fall. The more I wore it, the more compliments I’d get from teachers and students alike. And I knew blue was one of the colors I should wear more of when one of the boys in my yearbook class started telling me how good I looked in blue.
Blue really is all around me; even my convertible Beetle is blue:
Blue is a nice, calming color, so maybe that means that in 2012, I’ve given in a bit to my calmer, more zen side. Who knows?
As I look at this great pic showing brushstrokes of shades of blue, I do have to say that I’m drawn to each of them.
2013 will be my hot pink period, for sure! It’s time to get back to my vibrant side…
Bella on the Beach 
Blue has always been one of my favorite colors and I have never owned a car that wasn’t blue. I can’t remember my elementary school colors, but junior high was blue and white, high school was red, white and blue, college was red and blue, and grad school was blue and orange. So I’ve had good reason to like blue too!
