Happy Monday! The organizer in my loves when the first day of a new month begins on a Monday; the symmetry is great. It’s spring, plus a new month, so everything feels fresh and new. I’m going to make it my mission this April to show myself just what I’m made of in terms of fitness.
If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section at: www.alltheweigh.com so we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links here too so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic!
Childhood Flashbacks
1. Did you have a set bedtime as a child? If so, what was it? I think it as around 8pm when I was in elementary school.
2. Were you taught to be a member of the “Clean Plate Club?” Did it have affect your eating habits as an adult? No. My parents always asked us to try everything to see whether or not we liked it. If it was something I hated, like banana squash, I usually only had to take “3 bites.” I’d say that I still follow the “try it before you decide you don’t like it” rule with food.
3. Share one thing that you were not allowed to do as a child. My parents were very hands-on, and they were strict about some things, but I don’t remember any one thing that I wasn’t allowed to do that I really wanted to.
4. What is the cheapest gas price you can remember? My first car took leaded gas, and I remember paying 76 cents/gallon in 1988, when I was a junior in high school. That really makes me sound old, right?!
5. What was your favorite thing on the playground? I loved swings too, and had a swingset in my backyard, too. Off the playground, I’d say my bike was my favorite (still is).
6. Share one thing that your parents always made you do that you didn’t like doing. My parents always made me kiss all of our relatives hello and goodbye. (We’re Italian). I didn’t mind it in most cases, except for the elderly aunties with mustaches that always seemed to zap me with static electricity. (Again, we’re Italian).
7. Do you remember your first kiss? If so, share the details! I’m sure there was a kiss or two in jr high, but nothing memorable. My first real, serious kiss was when I was 16 with my first boyfriend. I was so excited that it had finally happened, but looking back, it was just really sloppy because the boy was really overeager.
8. Did you prefer to play inside or outside? Inside, by far. I loved to read, and would spend hours that way. Or my sister and I would play Barbies. Also, I had a chalkboard in my bedroom and would have “school” for my sister and our stuffed animals. (Guess the teaching thing was set from an early age). Even when we played outside, we did things like have tea parties. I definitely could have been much more active than I was.
9. What was your favorite TV show growing up? The Cosby Show was one of my absolute favorites, but I also loved Family Ties (huge crush on Michael J. Fox).
10. Share one awesome childhood memory. A family trip to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm, and the San Diego Zoo when I was 8 years old is by far one of the best vacations of my life.
Bonus: Share a picture of yourself as a child. I don’t have any digital photos of myself as a child, but this is a good reminder to see if my parents do, and if not, to start scanning my parents’ photo albums.
Now it’s your turn to answer the questions! And also be sure to go back to Kenlie’s blog and leave a link to your FMM post in the comments! I really encourage you to comment on as many people’s posts as you can – I’ve met some fantastic people through FMM. You never know who you’ll meet today.
I’d forgotten all about Family Ties, I liked that one too — and while my family isn’t Italian, I used to think hugs and kisses (and cheek pinches) from old relatives were awful.
Oh the kissing! there was just one Uncle (by marriage) that I hated hugging, he always hold on too tight for too long. He was wayyy too fresh.UGH.
