(I used the Rhonna Designs app on my iPhone to make this pic. I used this picture I took from my recent visit to Santa Cruz Boardwalk).

1.  This is my last Friday of summer vacation. 😦  This time next Friday I’ll be at a “Welcome Back” meeting for the start of the new school year for our first teacher workday.  My plan for the day is to spend it the way I’ve spent the entire summer – a combo of fitness and fun.  Fitness: a session on my home elliptical, walking the dogs with my dad, and swimming some laps. Fun: a bit of shopping (just took advantage of Victoria Secret’s most recent email offer), reading poolside, and a possible date later tonight.

2. This week has been a very social one, getting together with lots of friends that I’ve known since high school, which I’ve loved.  That’s one of the huge distinctions between my life now and my life before I lost all the weight.  I was always a social, extroverted person, but I often felt a bit depressed about the way I looked. Not to mention the clothing issue – I always tried to look my best, but nothing ever fit the way it should’ve.  I can’t count the number of times I turned down an invitation or made some excuse just so that I wouldn’t have to deal with all of that.  Now, I have tons of clothes in the closet that look great and make me feel fantastic.  Now, I am happy and excited when someone suggests going out.  I’m actually getting teary-eyed thinking about what a huge switch this is.  Just one more thing to be so grateful for about this new life.

3. I’ve been getting into Instagram a lot this summer, as you can tell by my feed on the right.  I post daily check-ins for my workouts and lots of pics of other things that just strike my fancy.  While I’ve been off, it’s been easy and really fun. This month I’m participating in three different photo-a-day contests, and I’m hoping I can keep up with them once school starts. If you haven’t joined a photo-a-day contest, I righly recommend them…maybe not just three in one month.  Still, the contests are a great way for me to stay focused on fitness, get motivated, and inspire myself and others with all the photos.

4. In anticipation of the school year starting in about a week, I spent a good portion of the day yesterday mapping out my school year workout plans in my iCal.  Since I have a morning prep period on my B days (which means I can get to school a bit later than normal) I’m going to fit in early morning fitness classes at the gym several times a week.  The live Insanity class that I tried a few weeks ago is now offered Tuesday mornings at 5:45am, and I’ll be there whenever Tuesday is a B day.  I’m also going to spinning at least once a week at 5:45am.  I’m still undecided about what I’ll do on my A days, when I need to leave my house by 7am.  Towards the end of last year I was waking up at 4:30am to do a morning workout, but that is just SO early.  Although it’s not ideal, I think I may go back to afternoon workouts on A days, because I really did enjoy them and they’re a great way to relieve the stress of the day.

5. 2014-08-07 12.40.49 Kandis, one of the TIUgirls, mentioned a week or two ago that she had started reading Gabrielle Bernstein’s May Cause Miracles.  Who doesn’t want “subtle shifts for radical change and unlimited happiness” right? The reviews and general internet buzz about the book was so positive that I thought I’d give it a try.  Have you read it?  What are your thoughts?  What book are you reading right now? Let me know in the comments.

That’s my Friday Five – I’m off to enjoy some pool time.

Happy Friday! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, full of fun and exciting adventures.

bilbl_superSince I don’t have many more days of summer vacation left (less than 2 weeks before I begin my teacher meetings), I was reflecting on how I’ve spent this summer.  I’ve had the best time working out and moving my body.  I have completely loved the routine of getting my workouts in first thing in the morning (most of the time) and working out with Tinkerbell several mornings a week.  Not only that, but I’ve made fitness a way for me to connect with other friends, as well.  Fun and fitness just go together for me.  The Tone It Up girls said to make this week count, and I definitely plan to with my workouts and the way I spend the rest of my days, as well. Here’s this week’s plan:

~
Monday: Excited for Spring cardio (home elliptical) + TIU: Bikini Body Routine
Tuesday: kickboxing & afternoon bike ride + TIU : Best Ab Routine (x2)
Wednesday: spinning + TIU: Thailand Tush & Daisy Duke workout
Thursday: run/walk intervals or elliptical  + TIU: Sunset Stretch (Beach Babe 2 DVD)
Friday: Stairs at Communications Hill & swimming + TIU: Beach Ball Workout
Saturday: run/walk intervals or elliptical

And don’t forget that I’ve started a little challenge of my own – getting in 150 miles by the time I have to go back to school for my first teacher workday on August 15. I’d love for you to join me.

I post my daily workouts on Instagram, so follow me (or look at the sidebar of this blog) to see what I’m doing!

bilbl_superHow many miles have you logged towards Bella’s Summer Challenge this week?

Happy Monday, everyone!  This week I was back to working out 6 days, with an active rest day on Saturday, and my weekly miles reflect that.

2014-07-27 18.05.47

I logged 33 miles this week, and that’s not including today’s workout yet. I’m really pleased with these numbers, especially the fact that I have already exceeded my goal of 150 miles by August 15th!  With over 2 1/1 weeks left, I’m going to aim for 200 miles! This week my miles included biking, swimming, walking along the beach, a stair workout, spinning, and of course, walking Sofi.

For this week’s plan, I’m thinking kickboxing, spinning, incline treadmill, biking, swimming, and walking Sofi.  Plus my TIU toning workouts.

What’s your goal this week? What workouts do you have planned to get those miles in?  Feel free to check in below, or message me on Twitter or Instagram.  And don’t forget to use the hashtags: #150bybacktoschool and #BellasSummerChallenge

Be sure to grab this chart if you’d like a visual way to track your miles.

bilbl_superHow many miles have you logged towards Bella’s Summer Challenge this week?

Happy Monday, everyone!  I hope the past week was a good one for you, and you were able to get in lots of fun & fitness.  This past week started out strong and then kind of “petered out” by Friday because of some disappointing personal news (more on that in a different post).  Still, I’m happy with this week’s totals!

2014-07-21 13.58.30

That’s a total of 17 miles I logged this week, which is a lot less than I’ve been doing in previous weeks, but still a decent number. I got strong workouts in Monday-Thursday, which I’m really proud of.  I also got back to the TIU toning workouts.  Thursday night I got some bad news, and it really affected me.  I withdrew a bit and spent a good part of the day on Friday and Saturday on the couch watching tv.  I know I would’ve felt so much better about myself if I’d have just gone out and gone on a walk with Sofi, at the very least.  There’s nothing like working out to help me change my perspective and feel better and less stressed.  The next time I’m feeling really down I’m going to do my best to get my butt off the couch and get out and move.

This week I did the stairs at Communication Hill with a friend this morning.  I’m looking forward to continuing to workout in the mornings with Tinkerbell Tuesday-Thursday. I’ll be continuing my TIU tonight workouts, too. I also plan to get in some good swimming sessions, as well as my daily walks with Sofi.  And hopefully another fitness class or two.

What’s your goal this week? What workouts do you have planned to get those miles in?  Feel free to check in below, or message me on Twitter or Instagram.  And don’t forget to use the hashtags: #150bybacktoschool and #BellasSummerChallenge

Be sure to grab this chart if you’d like a visual way to track your miles.

bilbl_superSo far this summer, I’ve been doing great with my cardio workouts.  Even last week while traveling for a teaching conference, I got up at 5:25am to make sure I got in at least 30 minutes.  The thing I’ve been lagging on is my toning workouts.  Even though my TIU workouts have been in my plan each week, I haven’t been doing them for the past two weeks.  So, that’s what I’m going to focus on this week.  Here’s this week’s plan:

~
MondayMaking Waves Cardio (home elliptical) + TIU: Summer Abs Playlist
Tuesday: swimming + TIU:Spankin’ Booty Routine (3x)
Wednesday: Biker Babes routine + TIU: Bikini Yoga
Thursday: Insanity class at 24 Hour Fitness + TIU: Bikini Arms + Sunkissed Abs (Beach Babe 2 DVD)
Friday: TIU/Fitness RX Summer Meltdown Bikini Body Routine + swimming/elliptical
Saturday: BodyCombat at 24 Hour Fitness + TIU: Bikini Abs + Bikini Arms (Beach Babe 2 DVD)

And don’t forget that I’ve started a little challenge of my own – getting in 150 miles by the time I have to go back to school for my first teacher workday on August 15. I’d love for you to join me.

bilbl_superHow many miles have you logged towards Bella’s Summer Challenge this week?

Happy Monday, everyone!  I hope the past week was a good one for you, and you were able to get in lots of fun & fitness.  I left for a teaching conference last Monday – Thursday, but I’m really proud to say that I logged in lots of miles even though I was traveling.  In fact, because we walked around Sacramento so much, I think I got in more miles than I might’ve if I stayed home.  Either way, it was a great week. Here are my totals as of this morning, including this morning’s workout:

2014-07-14 10.54.00

That’s a total of 46 miles in this week!  It was a lot of walking, but also included elliptical, swimming, and a lot of biking this weekend.  As a reminder, the TIU girls say that biking miles should be divided in 3.  So if you biked 12 miles, you’ll count that as 4 miles.  I myself just count the time spent doing the activity to keep the math simple.  So, since I biked for 70 minutes on Saturday, I counted it as 7 miles.

This week I’m going to fit in some fitness classes, something I love but haven’t been doing yet this summer.  In addition, I want to make sure to get in some swimming and biking, along with lots of walking.

What’s your goal this week? What workouts do you have planned to get those miles in?  Feel free to check in below, or message me on Twitter or Instagram.  And don’t forget to use the hashtags: #150bybacktoschool and #BellasSummerChallenge

So far it looks like I’m the only one using any of these hashtags, at least from my search on Instagram this morning:

bilbl_superThis week I’ll be traveling to Sacramento for a teaching conference until Thursday, but that’s not an excuse not to workout.  The hotel we’re staying in has a fitness center and a pool, and we always walk to/from the convention center and all of the restaurants for our meals, so staying active will be relatively easy.  Since I’m not sure which cardio machines the fitness center will have, I’m just going to put “cardio” on here for now, and will fill in the specifics when I get to the hotel later today. Here’s this week’s plan:
Monday: evening swim
Tuesday: cardio/swimming + TIU: Take Me to the Sea (shoulders/arms/abs)
Wednesday: cardio/swimming + TIU:Daisy Duke Workout (3 rounds)
Thursday: cardio/swimming + TIU:Beach Yoga w/ Karena
Friday: elliptical + long walk w/ Sofi + TIU: Santorini Bikini + TIU:  Sleek & Slender Abs
Saturday: walk w/ Sofi  + TIU: LYB w/ Kettlebells

And don’t forget that I’ve started a little challenge of my own – getting in 150 miles by the time I have to go back to school for my first teacher workday on August 15. I’d love for you to join me.

bilbl_superThis is the first full week of summer!  Even though the #TIU #bikiniseries is over, I’m planning to kick my workouts into high gear this week.  The great thing about Tone It Up is that the weekly workout schedules don’t stop.  I’ll be following their toning plan throughout the summer, and beyond.  Here’s this week’s plan:
Monday: C25K, W5D3 (which includes running for 20 straight minutes!) + Vinyasa Yoga in the late afternoon.***
Tuesday: stair workout with a teacher friend + TIU new toning (coming out early Tuesday afternoon)
Wednesday: C25K, W6D1 + Warm Yoga Flow + TIU: Bridal Babe Workout + Honeymoon Ready Routine
Thursday: Hot Tapas Yoga (similar to Bikram)+ TIU: HIIT the Beach 2 (Beach Babe 2 DVD)
Friday: Hot Tapas Yoga + C25K, W6D2 + TIU: Daisy Duke Workout (3 rounds) + TIU: Hula Booty (Beach Babe 2 DVD)
Saturday: Giant 5K w/ Di  (walking) + TIU: Cowabunga

***Today, TIU had the suggestion of going to a yoga class this afternoon, or doing one of their yoga routines. I’m so thankful that they suggested this, because I remembered that I had 19 yoga classes that I’d purchased last summer and were about to expire July 31st.  So, you’re going to see yoga on my schedule several times a week from now until then.

Now that the Bikini Series is over, I thought I’d start a little challenge of my own – getting in 150 miles by the time I have to go back to school for my first teacher workday on August 15. I’d love for you to join me.
