super-bowl-2015-ad-4-mil1

Happy Superbowl Sunday! As a football fan, I look forward to watching the Superbowl each year, even when my 49ers aren’t in it.  As a 49ers fan, I hope the Seahawks lose, but I’m not really rooting for the Patriots, either.  Either way, I know it’s going to be a good game, and it will be fun to watch the ads, the halftime show, and some really great football.  Plus, I love hanging out with my parents, who are huge football fans, too.  It should be a great afternoon.

Weekly Workout Schedule

bilbl_superIt’s been so long since I’ve posted a weekly schedule on the blog, although I have been pretty consistent with weekly workouts.  Every Sunday morning, I log into ToneItUp.com to see what workouts they have planned for the week.  Then I log everything into my iCal so that the workouts are locked in as appointments, eliminating excuses.  With my work schedule, all of my workouts start at 5am.  It used to be so difficult for me to wake up that early, but once I realized that I’m usually way too tired to workout after work, I just made morning workouts a priority.  Some mornings it doesn’t happen, and then I do try my best to fit in an afternoon/evening workout, but on the whole, I really like starting my day with a workout.  It’s invigorating, boosts my energy, and just puts me in a positive mindset for the day.

Here’s this week’s plan.  All workouts are from the TIU Weekly Workout Schedule:

Monday: Love Your Body w/ HIIT + Bikini Abs + Blogilates 30-Day Butt Challenge Day 1
TuesdayCupid Cardio + Bikini Yoga + Blogilates 30-Day Butt Challenge Day 2
Wednesday: +StairMill Workout + Love Your Body Routine + Blogilates 30-Day Butt Challenge Day 3
Thursday: 2 miles of cardio (elliptical) + Love Your Arms & Abs + Blogilates 30-Day Butt Challenge Day 4
Friday: **Jump Your Heart Out Workout + Love Your Total Body 2 + Blogilates 30-Day Butt Challenge Day 5
Saturday: Body Combat (24 Hour Fitness) + Blogilates 30-Day Butt Challenge Day 6
Sunday: ^Sunday Runday (5K incline treadmill walk) + Bloglilates 30-Day Butt Challenge Day 7

  • **Since I’m not really coordinated with a real jump rope, I’m going to do “virtual jump rope” where I mimic the movements with my arms/legs.
  • + I’ll hit the gym for this workout so that I can use the stair stepper machine.  All the other cardio (unless noted) will be done at home on my elliptical.
  • Saturday’s challenge was to go to a group exercise class.  Since I love the Body Combat class at 24 Hour Fitness, and haven’t gone in so long, I’m definitely looking forward to this one.
  • ^I’ve decided that for now, running really isn’t for me.  My knees have been acting up a bit (lots of cracking and a bit of pain here and there), so for the SundayRunday I’m going to walk at an incline at a 4.0 mph pace on the treadmill for 3 miles.

One of my fitness friends on Facebook posted this Blogilates 30-Day Butt Challenge, which I’m really excited to complete this month. I already logged each of the day’s moves into iCal, so I’m all ready to do each of the moves everyday.  In looking at the schedule, I know I’ll be able to do all of the moves, and I like the way it slowly increases the moves as the month progresses.  And who doesn’t love a rounder, firmer butt?!

As always, I post my workouts everyday on Instagram, so be sure to keep me accountable.

Have a SundayFunday, and I’ll see you in my next blog!!

bilbl_super These past couple of weeks my workouts have been a bit hit and miss.  Last week I got in cardio workouts 5 days, but the toning kind of fell off as the week progressed.  This week I’m going to focus on getting all my workouts in – toning and cardio – no matter how busy or tired I get.  I just feel better about every aspect of my life when I’m completing both parts of my workouts. Here’s this week’s plan:

~
Monday: PM: Walk Sofi
Tuesday: AM: C25K, W5D1 + TIU: Bikini Abs
Wednesday: PM: elliptical + TIU: Love Your Arms & Abs (x3)
Thursday: PM: TIU: Insane Cardio + TIU: Bikini Booty
Friday: PM: C25K, W5D2 + TIU: Bikini Arms (Beach Babe 2 DVD) + TIU: Shoulders (x2)
Saturday & Sunday: bike ride/ walk Sofi + C25K, W5D3 (Sunday Runday)

+ walk with Sofi every day

AM = early morning workout before work
PM = afternoon/evening workout after work

I’m looking forward to this week’s workouts!

bilbl_superI’m really excited about the workout week ahead for two reasons.  First and foremost, tomorrow the Tone It Up girls are beginning their #FriskyFall challenge.  Eight weeks of motivation and inspiration!  I’m also excited that this week I’m going to resume my 5K training so that I’m prepared to run the entire 5K for the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day.   Here’s this week’s plan:

~
Monday: PM: C25K, W4D1 + TIU Back to School Workout (x3)
Tuesday: PM: TIU Stair Routine + TIU: Sunkissed Abs + New Frisky Fall Routine (coming Tuesday)
Wednesday: PM: C25K, W4D2 + TIU: Holiday Arms (x3)
Thursday: AM: elliptical  + TIU: Love Your Legs (x3) + Inner&Outer Thighs
Friday: PM: C25K, W4D3 + TIU: Frisky Fall Full Body Routine (x4)
Saturday & Sunday: Body Combat (Saturday)/bike ride/ swim/walk Sofi

+ walk with Sofi every day

AM = early morning workout before work
PM = afternoon/evening workout after work

I’ve been doing pretty well with my PM workouts, and with the added excitement of the #FriskyFall  challenge, I’m really motivated to make sure I get each one in.

bilbl_superIt’s been a few weeks since I’ve had a chance to post my weekly workout schedule.  I did really well my first week of working at the new job, but last week wasn’t as great.  I got a few workouts in, but I took a couple of weekday rest days, too.  This week I’m determined to get in 5 solid weekday workouts, plus active rest days on the weekend. Here’s this week’s plan:

~
Monday: Cleaned the entire house (hey, it counts as a calorie burn!) + bike ride + TIU: Stars & Stripes routine (x2)(minus the jog & jumping rope, since I already got my cardio in)
Tuesday: AM: elliptical + TIU: Bikini Series Yoga
Wednesday: PM: recumbent bike + TIU: Bikini Arms + Tight & Toned Arms (Beach Babe 2 DVD)
Thursday: PM: elliptical  + TIU: Sleek & Slender Abs (x3) + Spanking Booty (x3)
Friday: PM: TIU: Frisky Fall Full Body Routine (x4)
Saturday & Sunday: bike ride, swim, walk Sofi

+ walk with Sofi every day

AM = early morning workout before work
PM = afternoon/evening workout after work

The PM workouts are the hardest for me to get to, because I’m usually so tired/thinking of all the other things I have to do.  This week, I’m not letting any excuses slip in, no matter what time it is when I go and workout.

bilbl_superSince I don’t have many more days of summer vacation left (less than 2 weeks before I begin my teacher meetings), I was reflecting on how I’ve spent this summer.  I’ve had the best time working out and moving my body.  I have completely loved the routine of getting my workouts in first thing in the morning (most of the time) and working out with Tinkerbell several mornings a week.  Not only that, but I’ve made fitness a way for me to connect with other friends, as well.  Fun and fitness just go together for me.  The Tone It Up girls said to make this week count, and I definitely plan to with my workouts and the way I spend the rest of my days, as well. Here’s this week’s plan:

~
Monday: Excited for Spring cardio (home elliptical) + TIU: Bikini Body Routine
Tuesday: kickboxing & afternoon bike ride + TIU : Best Ab Routine (x2)
Wednesday: spinning + TIU: Thailand Tush & Daisy Duke workout
Thursday: run/walk intervals or elliptical  + TIU: Sunset Stretch (Beach Babe 2 DVD)
Friday: Stairs at Communications Hill & swimming + TIU: Beach Ball Workout
Saturday: run/walk intervals or elliptical

And don’t forget that I’ve started a little challenge of my own – getting in 150 miles by the time I have to go back to school for my first teacher workday on August 15. I’d love for you to join me.

bilbl_superSo far this summer, I’ve been doing great with my cardio workouts.  Even last week while traveling for a teaching conference, I got up at 5:25am to make sure I got in at least 30 minutes.  The thing I’ve been lagging on is my toning workouts.  Even though my TIU workouts have been in my plan each week, I haven’t been doing them for the past two weeks.  So, that’s what I’m going to focus on this week.  Here’s this week’s plan:

~
MondayMaking Waves Cardio (home elliptical) + TIU: Summer Abs Playlist
Tuesday: swimming + TIU:Spankin’ Booty Routine (3x)
Wednesday: Biker Babes routine + TIU: Bikini Yoga
Thursday: Insanity class at 24 Hour Fitness + TIU: Bikini Arms + Sunkissed Abs (Beach Babe 2 DVD)
Friday: TIU/Fitness RX Summer Meltdown Bikini Body Routine + swimming/elliptical
Saturday: BodyCombat at 24 Hour Fitness + TIU: Bikini Abs + Bikini Arms (Beach Babe 2 DVD)

And don’t forget that I’ve started a little challenge of my own – getting in 150 miles by the time I have to go back to school for my first teacher workday on August 15. I’d love for you to join me.

bilbl_superThis is the last week of the Tone It Up #CreateYourSummer #BikiniSeries, and I’m determined to finish it with a bang!  I’m well on my way to completing exceeding my goal of logging 150 miles of cardio (#150bysummer) during the 8 weeks of the Bikini Series.  Here’s the plan:

Sunday:  walking! First thing this morning with my mom & later in the afternoon with Sofi
Monday: meeting a co-worker at the gym.  C25K, W5, D1 (which is running 8 straight minutes!) + TIU: Bikini Series Arms, Bikini Arms (Beach Babe 2 DVD), & Sunkissed Abs + swimming in the early afternoon
Tuesday: meeting Tink at the gym at 7am. Elliptical + TIU: BikiniThighs  + Bikini Abs + Daisy Dukes Leg & Booty Routine (coming out on Tuesday morning)
Wednesday: Meeting Tink at the gym at 7am. C25K, W5, D2 + TIU: Sunrise Routine (Beach Babe DVD) + Bikini Yoga + Itty Bitty Abs (1-3 rounds)
Thursday: Making Waves Cardio (elliptical) + TIU: Bikini Body + Bikini Body 2
Friday: TIU: HIIT the Beach 2 (Beach Babe 2 DVD) + Bikini Abs (2 rounds)
Saturday: 1st day of summer! C25K, W5, D3  + TIU: Pink Flamingo (2 rounds) + swimming!

Even though the Bikini Series will be over by Saturday, the great thing about Tone It Up is that the weekly workout schedules don’t stop.  I’ll be following their toning plan throughout the summer, and beyond.  I post my daily workouts on Instagram, so follow me (or look at the sidebar of this blog) to see what I’m doing!

bilbl_superThis week is bananas for me at school – busy days, and a few events in the evening, too.  Which means several more days waking up at 4:00am to make sure I can fit these workouts in.  It hasn’t been easy waking up that early, but I’ve been doing a decent job of it these past two weeks.

Here’s my workout plan for this week:
Sunday:  20-mile bike ride with a friend
Monday: stair workout (6 rounds up & down of 225 stairs) + 2.41-mile walk in 37:19 w/ mom + swimming/playing in the pool with nieces & sis.
Tuesday: Rest Day
**Wednesday: TIU: Making Waves Routine (elliptical) + TIU: Sunrise Routine (Beach Babe DVD) / PM workout: Sunset Routine
**Thursday: C25K: Week 4, Day 2 + TIU: Ab Workout Playlist + Bikini Booty
Friday: TIU: Biker Babes + TIU: Take Me to the Sea
Saturday: TIU: Pura Vida + long walk with Sofi

**4:15am workouts

I’m going to try to walk Sofi on Wednesday – Friday in addition to these workouts, but it will just depend how the days go.

I’m excited about this workout plan because it’s challenging, yet also doable. I like the variety in my cardio because I think it’s really important, and the TIU toning is really showing up.  In fact, my friend Di said that I look really toned when she saw me on Sunday.  Which means that even though my weight has remained the same, I think I’m losing inches and firming up. Plus, I have a lot of fun creating the photo collages and checking in on Instagram with the TIU community.

This week’s C25K comes with 5 minutes of straight jogging, which is daunting, but I’m going to remember to s-l-o-w it down and just push through.  My legs are never the issue; it’s my breathing that become difficult, so I know that slowing down will really help.  As I mentioned in a previous post, my goal in beginning C25K again is to be able to wog/jog/run the MOOnlight 5K on July 12. Not run/walk, but to run it (however slowly) all the way through.

Saturday+Smiles

One huge thing making me smile today is the fact that I have the entire week off next week! This is the first time my school district has given us the whole week off – we usually get Wednesday – Friday, but having these two extra days is really wonderful. I don’t have anything “amazing” planned, but I do think I’m going to do a few things:

  • clean and organize the closets
  • cheer for my 49ers as they win on Monday Night Football
  • start my Match.com profile – I recently bought a Groupon for $17 for one month on Match.com, so there soon may be some interesting tales to tell of my online dating exploits
  • get my hair blown out at Dry Bar Tuesday night with Tinkerbell
  • watch Hunger Games on Netflix and then go see Catching Fire at the theatre
  • start C25K on Monday
  • begin reading The Theory of Opposites (and hopefully finish it before the week is over)
  • buy some “after school”/casual clothes in smaller sizes
  • do the Turkey Trot Thursday morning w/ Ani
  • take Sofi on plenty of long walks

Yesterday I went to Sports Basement to pick up my bib for the Turkey Trot. Originally I was going to get a women’s XXL, since the race shirts are the technical tees that are slim fit, but they didn’t have any that size.  So I knew it was time to get a men’s tee.  I went over to the XLs, and one of the guys doling out the shirts told me, “there’s no way that shirt is going to fit you – it’s way too big.”  Too big!!! An XL! I mean, just a couple of months ago, an XL in men’s wouldn’t have fit me at all and I would’ve been hoping I could stretch out an XXL.  So, I picked up a large, and… it fits.  It not only fits, it looks good!

2013turkeytrotshirt

This morning I started bright and early on the hybrid and did the elliptical for 45 minutes! I haven’t done the elliptical for more than a month, favoring the recumbent bike, but this morning I wanted more of a burn. Plus, I wanted to push myself a bit more.  I told myself, “just do it for 30 minutes.” Then when it was getting closer to 30 minutes, I said, “go till 45 minutes, you can do it, no problem.” And I was right.  Pushing myself a bit more felt great, and I burned 646 calories! I’m going to do it again tomorrow morning, but I’m going to put in an hour.

Today I got to spend lots of time with my sister and my 6-year-niece (the older niece is on a Girl Scouts camping trip in Point Reyes, so she’s having fun, too).  This afternoon we went for a nice walk at the Rose Garden with the pups, and then after dinner we put on our dancin’ shoes and had a ton of fun playing Just Dance 4.  My little niece is quite the hip-hop dancer, and whenever a song with an upbeat tempo came on she’d say, “now THIS is my kinda song!”  Too cute.  It’s great having so much more energy to do all these fun activities with my family.
