I recently found two great bloggers – Heidi @ Finishing the Hat and Kenlie @ AlltheWeigh.  Both of these awesome ladies are incredibly inspiring, write interesting, thought-provoking posts, and share their love of food, fashion, and art in their blog posts – what’s not to love?  They also participate in a weekly blog topic discussion called Friend Makin’ Monday, and I’ve decided that I’m going to join in.

FMM: How Much Weight Have You Lost?  And what have you gained from losing it? (If you’re participating in FMM – and you’re not on a weight-loss journey, tell us about a powerful change you’ve made in your life!)

I’m slightly embarrassed to admit that I’ve only lost 14.2 pounds.  I’m embarrassed because at one point this was 29 pounds gone.  But no use getting too upset, because I’m on the right track now.  After my motivating phone conversation the other day, I’m ready to tackle these last 30 pounds with everything I’ve got.

And although my weight loss isn’t as stellar as I’d have hoped, I have gained so many things on this journey:

  • I know myself and my triggers, and more importantly, I know what to do to avoid/stop them.
  • I’ve gained a love for exercise.  Even though sometimes I still balk at the thought of waking up and hitting the gym right away, I do enjoy moving my body and challenging myself to reach new fitness goals.
  • I’ve tried a bunch of classes and discovered my love of anything dance-based: Zumba, Afro-Belly Boogie, and Belly Dancing.
  • I’ve  realized how much I love being in the water – either swimming or doing aqua aerobics.
  • I have re-discovered a love of cooking, planning and preparing healthy meals for myself.
  • I’ve gained tons of support through this blog and made some friends that I know I’ll have for life.
  • I’ve been able to use this blog as a forum for my love of writing, while at the same time chronicling my struggles, my triumphs, and everything in between.
