If you’ve taken part in FMM then you know the rules. If you’re new, please take a moment to answer this week’s question on your own blog then add your link in the comments section at: www.alltheweigh.comso we can all see your FMM questions and answers. Please invite your blog readers to add their links, too, so everyone has to opportunity to be seen. The idea is to connect with other awesome bloggers so take a moment to post your own FMM post and comment on a couple of other posts. Now it’s time for this week’s topic.

FMM: Have You Ever?

1. …traveled outside of your home country?  If so, where?  I feel like I’ve visited other countries more than I’ve visited the U.S..  I’ve been to:

  • Vancouver and Victoria, BC Canada
  • Mexico – Cabo San Lucas
  • Italy – Milan, Florence, Verona, Venice, Padua, Rome, Naples, Sorrento, Capri, Sicily
  • Spain – Madrid
  • Jamaica – the entire island

2. …performed on stage in front of at least 1,000 people? If so, share some details!  No, can’t say as I have.  I don’t have any sort of talent that would get me on a stage. But I am extremely comfortable talking in front of  crowds and do so every single day.

3. …watched an episode of Jersey Shore?  Every single one.  Love those tanned, blown out, guido’d, wild kids.  It’s definitely a guilty pleasure.

4. …baked a cake from scratch?  If so, what’s your specialty?  No, baking isn’t my thing.  I did just make a bunch of cookies for Christmas from scratch, with my sister. But cooking is more my thing.

5. …worked in a grocery store?  Yes, I worked in the deli of a grocery store throughout college.  Nothing was as motivating than knowing I didn’t want to have to work there with those gossiping girls forever!

6. …dated someone who was your best friend first?  No.  It seems like that would be a really difficult decision – whether you want to risk the friendship for a relationship that might not last.

7. …made a difference in someone’s life during Christmas?  I’d like to think so.  I donate money to charity, volunteer at the local food bank, and donate clothes.

8. …been on TV?  Not yet.

9. …had cosmetic surgery? Again, not yet.  But I am planning on doing it to take care of the loose skin that is sure to come after wls.

10. …learned a second language?  If so, what else do you speak? I took Spanish in high school and college, and I guess I could get by.  I’d really like to learn Italian.  I know lots of food words and “bad” words, but not much else.

I absolutely love the idea and spirit behind this week’s FMM, so let’s get right to it.

FMM: Creating Change

This week Kenlie decided that instead of writing about ourselves, we should look to the world around us and make a positive impact –  create a change, if you will – which I think will show more about any of us than a cute survey (although I do love doing those quizzes!).

The Details: She’s  asking that you write a quick post today about your plans to donate food to a local food bank or church or charitable organization in your area during the month of September. (You can even copy this paragraph for your own post if you want to.)  Maybe you plan to donate 10 cans of beans or 5 packs of spaghetti or one jar of peanut butter.  Or maybe you’ll make a cash donation or volunteer.  You don’t have to get fancy or expensive.  Just give as much as you can, and be proud of yourself for making a difference.   Then, like usual, post a link here about your plans to donate for change.  And if someone leaves a comment on your blog about their plans to donate food or money to the hungry, leave another comment here at www.alltheweigh.com letting me know.  And when you’ve gathered your donation, you can e-mail a photo of yourself and your goods so you can be featured on my blog.

My Donation: Not only will I donate a grocery bag full of food to my local food bank, Second Harvest Food Bank , and I’ll also volunteer my time there, as well.  Every year I try to organize an evening with some of my students so that we can give back to our community. The 12th graders in my Journalism class and I had planned on going to volunteer one evening this fall, and this just gives me more of an impetus to do it.  They have an “active citizen” project for their government class, but beyond that, they are really sweet kids that were absolutely willing to go and do this when I mentioned it to them last week.  Plus it’s a really fun way for us to do something great for other people and bond as a class.  Win, win, win!!

Spending just a few dollars and donating it to a food bank is an easy thing for most of us to do and it makes a huge difference in the lives of people who may not know where their next meal is coming from.  I applaud Kenlie for coming up with this project, and I am more than willing to show my support.

What will YOU do?

FMM: The Last Thing

1) What is the title of the last book you read?  I am currently reading The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown and It Looked Different on the Model by Laurie Notaro.

2) What is the last movie you saw in a theater? A few weeks ago my sister, dad, and I saw Harry Potter.  I’m hoping to go see The Help and Crazy Stupid Love with friends next.

3) Briefly describe the last person you saw today.  I just saw the teacher who has her classroom next door to mine.  Today’s our first day of school and it’s lunchtime!!

4) Which store did you most recently shop in?  I just went shopping yesterday at Trader Joe’s to stock up on food for the week.

5) Who’s the last person you spoke to over the phone? The salesclerk at Noah’s Bagels.  I bought bagels for my Journalism class this morning, and I was pre-ordering them.

6) Where’s the last place you vacationed? Wow, I haven’t been on a vacation in a really long time.  The last one was Chicago and Michigan in November 2009 to visit my uncle.  I need to go somewhere in 2012, if not sooner.

7) When was the last time you kissed someone of the opposite sex? Who remembers?  That’s so sad, but it’s true.  At least 2 years. (I”m talking about in a romantic way, not kissing your male cousin or something).

8) What’s the last thing that made you laugh? My silly students.

9) What’s the latest app that you downloaded on your phone? Pinterest.  I’ve seen some really cool stuff online and I want to play around with the app a bit.

10)  What’s the last kind thing you did for someone?  I made my sister dinner on Saturday night.  Oh, and we also found a great top for her on eShakti (thanks Heidi for turning me on to that site!), which I bought her as part of her bday present.
