It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another WIAW. What I Ate Wednesday is a fun weekly post/blog social event started over at Peas and Crayons. If you want to follow my eats everyday, become my friend on MyFitnessPal.
Breakfast
Nothing too innovative here, I either had a breakfast similar to this one, or a fruit & protein smoothie.
Lunches
This week I really enjoyed the Orville Redenbacher’s natural salt & pepper popcorn. I had it several times with lunch.
I found these new (to me, at least) Oroweat Pocket Thins Flatbread and couldn’t wait to use them for a sandwich. However, I seem to have the same problem with pitas no matter who makes them – they break apart when I try to fill them. So instead, I just piled everything on top of the pita and it was just as delicious.
Dinners
It’s zucchini season! The ones my sister planted are almost ready, so I bought these, but they were delicious nevertheless. I love making them sauteed with a tiny bit of olive oil, onion, and garlic (+ salt and pepper, of course)
Over the weekend, I decided to make ScaleWarfare’s recipe for herbed steak. When I make steak I usually just put a bit of Chaka’s MMM sauce, grill it, and call it a day, but the recipe looked so good that I decided to give it a whirl. I bought coulotte (also known as top sirloin) steaks because those are so reasonably priced and it’s the cut I used to always ask for when I was a teenager.
Having the steak this way was a really nice treat that I would definitely do again, especially if I was having company. It looks (and tastes) so good this way.
I highly recommend joining in on the WIAW posts! Not only do you get a TON of great ideas for healthy, interesting meals, but you can make some new blogging buddies, too.
What was the best thing you’ve eaten today? This week?
Another week of awesome and colorful eats! You’re food looks so yummy!
Bella – if you warm the pita up a bit with a sprinkle of water (in the microwave for 5-10 secs), I find you can open the pita up and fill it without it breaking apart. I love seeing your WIAW posts – but they do make me hungry 🙂
Thanks, Anna, I’ll try that. These pocket thins were already split, they broke when I was actually trying to fill them.
MMMM salt and pepper popcorn sounds terrific 🙂
I’ve never thought of eating a tomato like a side dish! I can’t figure out why not either! When ever I make a sandwich or burger with tomato slices I always end up eating what’s left over anyway.
Oh, I love to eat tomatoes that way! Growing up, we always had a variety of tomatoes growing in the garden, and I’d pluck them right off the vine and eat them like an apple. At 5 years old! Now I like to have them with a dash of salt, balsamic, and a touch of olive oil.
Great looking eats! Your pictures of zucchini make me want some, I haven’t had any in such a long time!
I so love that you did this post, because ever since you left a comment on my blog about WIAW, I kept thinking, what is WIAW?! But forgot to ask you! Have to say – your breakfast is flawlessly nutritionally sound! Nice job!!!
